A Song. A Porch. And Time.

“If the world had a front porch like we did back then
We’d still have our problems but we’d all be friends
Treatin’ your neighbor like he’s your next of kin
Wouldn’t be gone with the wind
If the world had a front porch like we did back then…”  A song released by Tracy Lawrence back in 1994. I loved that song when it came out! I had no idea how it would impact me today. I’ve often thought how cool it would be to have lived way back when, and now I have that opportunity. The lyrics are so true. As I sit out here each morning reflecting back you can almost hear the soul of the house speaking to you. Begging you to carry on its legacy, its values, its heritage. Over the past 102 years I can only imagine the gatherings of family, friends, and neighbors this porch has seen. The stories it could tell are  countless. But the main thing it tells of each morning is love, friendship, blessings, opportunity. I truly do believe “if the world had a front porch” it would be such a better place.
